What we bring to the table is a unique mix of scientific theory and high-level strategy, which we design into practical implementation of solutions to your real-world problems. At CSS-LUCAS we are constantly engaging in fundamental and applied research. Dr. Rivera served as the Principal Investigator on a 3-Year, prestigious Minerva Initiative Grant (number W911NF-15-1-0291). In which he led a team of 50 researchers to discover and document resilience measures and remediations based on Complex Adaptive Systems theory. He has written white papers on Innovation, Technological Debt, the role of Chief Digital Officer, among others. He is currently writing a textbook on Data Literacy.

We also bring a great deal of experience in designing courses and have worked in providing customers with online MBAs and other virtual learning experiences. We understand pedagogy, so our courses are effective at not only communicating information but developing understanding and motivating action as well.

Please note that education and training courses are different. Training gets you to how to do something, with some sprinkling of why it should happen, but mostly how it should happen. Education is about why. Therefore, Dr. Rivera tailors education for mid- to senior-leadership and training to engineers. This same distinction carries over into documentation. When writing how-to manuals, supplemental materials for training, or training assessments, the key is to present complex problem solutions in clear and succinct language. When writing strategic documents, the key is to get leadership thinking about what becomes possible once certain technology choices are made.

We should also note that coaching is another matter, in the sense that it takes training outside of the classroom and into the environment. Please note that Dr. Rivera is certified as a Scrum Master, a Scrum Product Owner, and a Scrum@Scale practitioner. Therefore, we can coach in agile methodologies, which are highly recommended for any organization seeking to Modernize.
